Google Play

Stuck on Google Play's closed testing requirement?

New personal developer accounts can't publish to production straight away: Google first asks for a closed test with at least 12 testers over 14 days, then reviews an application for production access.

What this rejection means

Meeting the numbers is only part of it. Google also reviews the application for production access and can refuse it, and a refusal means more testing and another application.

What is at stake

This step sits right before launch, so every refusal pushes back the release date and everything planned around it: campaigns, press and pre-registration.

When to talk to us

  • The message doesn't make clear what to change
  • You resubmitted and got the same answer
  • A launch, an update or a campaign is waiting on this
  • You're not sure whether to reply, resubmit or appeal

Why it takes more than a quick fix

Google doesn't publish exactly how applications are judged. Getting accepted the first time takes experience with the process.

How we help

  1. You send us the caseThe reviewer's message, the app and what changed since the last approved version.
  2. We find the real causeWe look at your case the way the store does, and find what is really behind it.
  3. You get a clear planWhat has to change, written for your team, or we work on it with them.
  4. We help you answerYour reply to the reviewer or your appeal, and follow-up until the review is closed.

Questions

We were refused production access. What now?

It can be fixed, but the next application should not repeat the first. We look at what was sent and plan the next attempt with you.

Can you guarantee approval?

No one outside Apple and Google can promise how a review will go. What we can do is find the real cause, remove what we can see would block approval and give the reviewer everything they need.

Do you need access to our accounts?

It helps, but it is your choice. We can work from screenshots, exports and a build, or with a limited role you add and remove yourself.
