Google Play

Google Play's account deletion requirement

If people can create an account in your app, Google Play has specific requirements for how they can have it deleted, and it checks them.

What this rejection means

The requirement applies to every app where people can create an account, and what you declare about it is checked along with the app. Apps that don't meet it have their updates rejected.

What is at stake

Missing deletion blocks updates until it is in place, and in many markets it is a legal obligation as well as a store rule.

When to talk to us

  • The message doesn't make clear what to change
  • You resubmitted and got the same answer
  • A launch, an update or a campaign is waiting on this
  • You're not sure whether to reply, resubmit or appeal

Why it takes more than a quick fix

Deletion touches the app, the back end, the services that hold the data and your legal texts. It has to work end to end and be described the same way everywhere.

Questions

Is Apple's rule the same?

Close, but not the same: Apple has its own requirement under Guideline 5.1.1, and an app on both stores has to satisfy both.

Can you guarantee approval?

No one outside Apple and Google can promise how a review will go. What we can do is find the real cause, remove what we can see would block approval and give the reviewer everything they need.

Do you need access to our accounts?

It helps, but it is your choice. We can work from screenshots, exports and a build, or with a limited role you add and remove yourself.
